“Dogs are welcome to come along – We never had a dog that smoked in bed and set fire to the blankets (although smoking inside the cabin is not allowed!)- We never had a dog that stole our towels and played the TV too loud, or had a noisy fight with a traveling companion – We never had a dog that got drunk and broke up the furniture……So if your dog can vouch for you…. you are welcome too !!!!”
A well behaved dog (or any other pet for that matter) is always welcome on board – up to a maximum of two.
It’s a great holiday for dogs, even the occasional cat and parrot come along on holiday! There are endless amounts of dog-walking along the tow path, a new path each day to explore and sniff out the various smells along the way. We recommend bringing familiar bedding (we do ask that you keep the animals off the bedding and seating areas please) and a few suitable doggy towels. Most dogs go the whole week without a dip but there are the occasional unintended swimming expeditions and we know that your average Labrador loves to have the occasional dip!
You will however appreciate that the next people hiring the boat may not be so pet orientated and therefore we do clean the boat extra specially making sure that all dog hairs are fully removed. Some people do have allergies and we would hate for them to suffer! We do charge an additional fee of £20 to cover this additional cleaning and this fee is payable at the time of booking.
Some useful tips
Please bring along all your normal bedding, etc, along with leads, play toys and plenty of poop bags.
Please pack a couple of spare ‘doggie’ towels, some dogs cannot resist a swim!
Please keep your pets off the bedding and other furniture items, thank you
Do not let your dog drink the canal water, please ensure you have drinking water permanently available on board
Locks are dangerous and it is a waterways rule that when passing through a lock dogs are either on a lead with their owner or remain on the boat
